Employees of finance companies seem to be on the radar of robbers in the district. In the past three days, two loot incidents have been reported in which miscreants targeted employees of finance firms.

In the first incident, the robbers with their faces covered came on a motorcycle and looted Rs40,000 from a finance company employee near Gaggar village in Lambi on Wednesday.

Similarly, in another incident, three youngsters came on two motorcycles and snatched a tablet worth about Rs12,000 from a finance company employee in an area between Sangrana and Charewan villages on Wednesday. Two separate cases have been registered in this regard.

Notably, earlier on January 3, three unidentified robbers had looted nearly Rs10 lakh from two employees of a finance company at on gunpoint on Davindra Road in Malout.

Before this, on December 7 last year, two unidentified persons, who had covered their faces with clothes, had looted Rs40,000 from an employee of a finance firm near Bhagsar village here.

Further, on November 22 last year, two unidentified persons with their faces covered had looted Rs3 lakh from an employee of a finance company at Bhagsar village here.

Similarly, on November 14 last year, two persons, who are yet to be identified, had looted Rs43,000 from an employee of a finance firm near Kotli Sanghar village here. In the incident, the victim was injured and was admitted to a private hospital.

However, cops are yet to solve these cases. A senior police officer, who did not wish to be named, said efforts were afoot to nab the suspects. “We have got success in arresting several criminals in the past and the remaining will also be nabbed soon,” he added.

Some local residents said even travelling on any road in day time was not safe these days. “The cops must increase their vigil and patrolling. Apart from that, there is a need to speed up the process of solving all theft, snatching and robbery cases,” they added.
