Students take oath to make state drug-free

BATHINDA: An awareness campaign against drug menace was organised under the Buddy Programme at SSD College of professional studies, Bhokhra, on Tuesday.

An awareness campaign against drug menace was organised under the Buddy Programme at SSD College of professional studies, Bhokhra, on Tuesday. The event started with the oath-taking ceremony where every student and teacher took an oath to make the state drug-free.

Jagdeep Singh, professor of Punjabi Department, who is the nodal officer of “Buddy Group”, explained the reasons how and why Punjab had been engulfed by evil of drugs. He elaborated on steps how students could save and make themselves aware of the evil of drugs.

He added, “The causes of drug abuse in the state are unemployment, unawareness among family members/youngsters, songs, psychiatric problems, stress and youngsters falling prey to a bad company among others.”
