Three injured in clash between two groups

BATHINDA: Three persons, including a sarpanch, were seriously injured in a clash that took place between two groups over a property dispute, which turned bloody at Ghuman Kalan village in Maur Mandi here on Thursday.

Three persons, including a sarpanch, were seriously injured in a clash that took place between two groups over a property dispute, which turned bloody at Ghuman Kalan village in Maur Mandi here on Thursday. Members of both parties attacked each other with sticks, baseball bats and other weapons.

An injured was admitted to a private hospital while others were under treatment at the local hospital. It is learnt that shots were also fired during the attack, but the police denied any firing in the incident.

After getting information about the incident, the Maur police team reached the spot and recorded the statement of both the groups and started a probe into this incident.

As per information, Mukhtair Kaur, a resident of Ghuman Kalan village, had given her nine acres to her relative and they were only doing farming work on this land, but now women’s sons refused to give this land to them stating that they themselves would do farming on their land from now onwards and today they had come to do sowing on this land, leading to a fight between both the groups.

ASI Jaskaran Singh said in this clash Jaito village sarpanch Kikar Singh was seriously injured, who was taken to the Bathinda Civil Hospital, from where he was referred to Max hospital. Injured Jugraj Singh and his associate had been admitted to the Talwandi Sabo Civil Hospital. Doctors said Kikar Singh was unfit for giving a statement.

He further stated that after taking the statement of Kikar Singh further action would be initiated in this incident.
