Ludhiana, October 15

Three minor girls have gone missing in the district in the past few days.

Kavita, a resident of Ranchi Colony, complained that her 15-year-old daughter who worked as a domestic help in Rajguru Nagar went to work in the morning on October 12, but did not return.

Badri Prasad, a resident of Singhpura Road, said his 17-year-old daughter Manju, who also worked as a domestic help, had gone to work on October 6, but did not return. “The next day, I received a call from the woman she works for saying that she had not reported for work on October 6,” he said.

The police have registered a case against unidentified persons in both the cases under Section 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of the IPC.

Chaman Lal, a resident of Sewak Nagar in Dholewal, approached the police after his 16-year-old daughter Sonali did not return from school on October 6. “She had left for school as usual at 9 am but I found out that she had not reached the school. I suspect that someone must have inveigled her into going somewhere,” he said.

The police have registered a case against one Mansi, a resident of the same locality, on the complaint of Chaman Lal under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366A (procreation of minor girl) of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
