Three more cases of poll violence reported

BATHINDA: The police have registered three more cases of poll violence in Bathinda district.

The police have registered three more cases of poll violence in Bathinda district.

Around 20 unidentified persons have been booked for beating up SAD and Congress polling agents at Kangar village in the Rampura Phul Assembly segment, which is part of the Faridkot parliamentary constituency.

Complainant Paramjit Singh of Kangar village, who was a SAD agent, told the police that on Sunday, he had a verbal spat with Congress agent Gagandeep Singh of the same village. He said later, around 20 persons came and assaulted both of them.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Dyalpura police station.

In another case, Hartej Singh of Phulokheri village told the police that on Sunday, Harbans Singh, Bunny, Harpreet Singh, Seera Singh and Lakha Singh of Phulokheri village had beaten him up over their heated argument regarding votes that took place a few days ago.

A case under Sections 341, 323, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against the accused at the Rama police station.

In the other case, Gurdeep Kaur of Mohalla village told the police that Jagtar Singh, Tek Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Paramjit Kaur, Gurwinder Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Sukhpreet Kaur and Angrej Kaur of the same village had barged into her house and assaulted her on May 19. She said they were unhappy over her support to the Congress. The complainant said the accused were SAD workers and they had a spat with her at the booth over votes.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Sangat police station.
