Woman among four held with illicit liquor

BATHINDA: Six cases under the Excise Act were registered in the past 24 hours in the district. In the first case, the police recovered 360 bottles of country-made Haryana brand liquor from a woman during checking at Pakka Kalan village.

Six cases under the Excise Act were registered in the past 24 hours in the district.

In the first case, the police recovered 360 bottles of country-made Haryana brand liquor from a woman during checking at Pakka Kalan village. The arrested accused has been identified as Lakhvir Kaur, a resident of the Pakka Kalan village. The police have registered a case at the Sangat police station.

In another case, the police recovered 360 bottles of country-made Haryana brand liquor along with Honda City car during checking at Jandawala village. The accused has been identified as Sukhdeep Singh, a resident of Sirsa district in Haryana. The police have registered a case against accused at the Nehiawala police station.

The police seized 107 bottles of country-made Haryana brand liquor from a person at T-point Lal Singh Basti in the city, but accused Makhan Singh, a resident of Bathinda, managed to flee from the spot. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him at the Canal Colony police station.

In another case, the police seized 24 bottles of country-made liquor from a person during checking at Rayia village. Accused Yodha Singh of Rayia managed to escape from the spot. A case against the accused has been registered at the Phul police station. The police seized 24 bottles of illicit liquor from Rayia village. Accused Sarabjeet Singh was arrested from the spot, while two accused Lalla Singh and Sewak Singh managed to escape from the spot.

In another incident, the police seized 24 bottles of illicit liquor from Gurusar Jagga village. Accused Saudagar Singh of Mansa was arrested and has been booked under the Excise Act at the Talwandi Sabo police station. — TNS
