1,403 cases settled in Lok Adalat

FATEHGARH SAHIB: Under the directive of National Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was held in the town under the supervision of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, RS Rai on Saturday.

Under the directive of National Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was held in the town under the supervision of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, RS Rai on Saturday. Thirteen Benches constituted in Fatehgarh Sahib district were presided over by judicial officers during the Lok Adalat.

District and Sessions Judge said as many as 2,265 cases, including pre-litigated, came up for hearing in National Lok Adalat out of which 1,403 were amicably settled in which an amount of Rs 5,82,55,875 awarded as compensation to the beneficiaries.

Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, Prashant Verma, said, “Major benefits of Lok Adalat include refund of court fees paid by the litigants and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties.” — OC
