The police have arrested a person for allegedly sodomising a 12-year-old boy in Nabha town of the district.
The suspect has been identified as Harwinder Singh (21), a resident of Dhuri, Sangrur. The police said the incident took place around 6 pm on Monday when the boy was playing in Government High School at the village.
The Station House Officer (SHO), Nabha Sadar, said: “We have arrested the accused. He was later produced in the court, which sent him to a jail.”
A case has been registered on the complaint of the boy’s father. He told the police that the suspect allegedly had unnatural sex with his child. The suspect has been booked under Sections 377 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
The police said the suspect was the victim’s neighbour. The boy has been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Nabha.
The SHO said: “The medical examination of the boy has been conducted. He is undergoing treatment at the hospital.”
