13 booked for attacking FCI depot employee, snatching

Ambala: Two thieves struck at The Tribune sub-office in Ambala Cantonment in the wee hours on Thursday.

The police have registered a case of wrongful restraint and snatching against 13 persons, six identified, after Mahavir of Sangrur complained that the accused attacked him and his relatives and snatched Rs 50,000 from them yesterday.

Mahavir, who works at a depot of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), said the incident took place when he was at the depot with his relatives, Lachhman Das and Chamkaur Singh.

The accused have been identified as Manga of Arnoli village, Anup Singh of Muradmajra village, Feru Singh of Mashingan village, Jassa Singh of Hazipur village, Navdeep Sing of Prem Nagar, Patiala, and Rampal of Markel Colony, Patiala, along with seven unidentified persons.

He said the accused attacked them, threatened to kill them and snatched Rs 50,000 from them. He added that the accused attacked due to differences in unions. The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 379-B (snatching), 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly) and 120-B (party to a criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
