Chandigarh, October 15
A 14-member delegation of youth form Chinese Peoples Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) from China and Sportjugend NRW, Germany, visited Panjab University today. The visit was organised by Friends of China Association and Yuvsatta, Chandigarh.
The young guests were first received by Yuvsatta coordinator Pramod Sharma and political science Prof Mohd Khalid at Gandhi Bhawan. Sharing the rich 135 years legacy of Panjab University with the delegates Prof Khalid said PU was established on October 14, 1882, in Lahore (now Pakistan). Later, it was relocated to Punjab in India after Partition in 1947. Visitors also learned about role of Mahatma Gandhi in India’s freedom struggle.
Later, they were received with rose buds by Prof Deepak Kapur at University Business School (UBS), who also presented them autobiographies of Mahatma Gandhi and shared information about his department.
Next stop for the delegation was the Department of Law, where they were received by the chairperson, Prof Meenu Puri, and other senior faculty members, who explained about their department.
The delegates also met Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) members, where its secretary Amarinder Singh explained about students elections.
Lastly, the delegation also saw sporting action at the 71st Athletic Inter-College Meet at playgrounds of Panjab University, where Prof Gurmeet Singh apprised them about the latest and modern equipment for all games available for the use of university players.
Excited after their visit West Asian and North African Affairs in-charge at The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China, Ai Lin, said in future they would like to see this youth exchange between China and India grow with the passage of time. “As two great neighbours we have to live in harmony and peace with each other,” she added.
