2 city residents denied anticipatory bail in Rs1-lakh fraud case

CHANDIGARH: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge has rejected the anticipatory bail application of two accused in a cheating case involving a sum of over Rs 1 crore.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge has rejected the anticipatory bail application of two accused in a cheating case involving a sum of over Rs 1 crore.

According to the prosecution, Subhash Choudhary, a resident of Sector 45 here, had filed a complaint against Jagdish Singh and Ravinder Kaur, both residents Sector 32.

He had alleged that the accused dishonesty adduced and allured him to invest money along with them on a false promise of heavy returns. Accordingly, he invested nearly Rs 1 crore but the accused did not return the money.

Nearly Rs 1,14,15,000 was pending against the accused. They gave the complainant a cheque, which was dishonoured.

On the compliant, a case of criminal conspiracy and cheating was registered against the Jagdish Singh and Ravinder Kaur.

During hearing of the bail application, the defence counsel claimed that the accused were falsely implicated in the case.

However, the prosecution argued that the accused had deprived the complainant of his hard-earned money and they had allegedly cheated a number of other persons also. Hence, their interrogation was needed.

After the arguments, the court dismissed the anticipatory bail application of the accused.
