28-year-old kidnapped, Rs 1-crore ransom sought

AMBALA:A 28-year-old man has allegedly been kidnapped by some unidentified persons in the Shahzadpur area here today.

A 28-year-old man has allegedly been kidnapped by some unidentified persons in the Shahzadpur area here today. The victim has been identified as Vikram, a resident of Kurukshetra.

In his complaint to the police, Maan Singh, a resident of Bharapur village, alleged that he runs a brick-kiln in Shahzadpur. Around 1 pm, his friends Vikram and Sandeep, residents of Kurukshetra, reached there to meet him.

He said: “I had some work in a bank. So we were on our way towards Saha in a car. The car was being driven by Sandeep. Around 2 pm, we stopped our car near Nau Gaja Peer on NH-73 near Rajpura village. Meanwhile, around 8 men in two cars reached there, of which five had their faces covered. They were carrying sticks and iron rods. They inquired about Vikram and started thrashing us. Meanwhile, Vikram managed to escape but kidnappers chased him and managed to take him away with them. The kidnappers later made a call on Sandeep’s phone and demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom.

A case has been registered under sections 148, 149, 323, 364 and 427 of IPC at Shahzadpur police station. 

Amit Kumar, DSP, Naraingarh, said: “Teams have been constituted and efforts are being made to trace the man. Investigation is on.”
