3,200 students from 262 institutes showcase talent at literary fest

CHANDIGARH:The fourth annual edition of the two-day national literary festival, ‘Abhivyakti-2018’, organised by the Chandigarh University, Gharuan, concluded on Sunday.

The fourth annual edition of the two-day national literary festival, ‘Abhivyakti-2018’, organised by the Chandigarh University, Gharuan, concluded on Sunday.

 As many as 3,200 students from 262 universities and colleges from different regions of India took part in 16 categories of literary competitions, including poetry reciting, live debates, quiz, storytelling, word stroke and anchor hunt. 

Eminent authors, academicians, renowned poets, including Bollywood lyricist Rahat Indori, Nawaz Devbandi, Madhav Kaushik, Dr Chander Trikha, Shyam Shahid, Dr Neeranjan Patra and others, participated in panel discussions to apprise the youth of the importance of literature.

“The social media has given a growth platform to Hindi and other regional languages of India,” observed Dr Madhav Kaushik, Vice-Chairman, National Sahitya Academy. Poets regaled the audience, mostly students, in a ‘mushaira’. 

In a close contest, Panjab University, Chandigarh won the youth parliament event with Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, as the runner-up.
