3 held with heroin, banned injections

Three persons have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police from different parts of the city with heroin and banned injections.

According to the police, crime branch sleuths nabbed Himmat Singh, a resident of Mansa district, with 10 gm of heroin. He was arrested from near the Sports Complex in Sector 50 on April 15.

The police have registered a case against him under the NDPS Act at the Sector 49 police station.

In another incident, a team of the Sector 39 police station arrested Manoj Kumar, a resident of Sector 56, with 7 gm of heroin. He was arrested from near the police beat box on the road separating Sector 55 and 56. A case has been registered against him at the Sector 39 police station.

The police said two cases were registered against Manoj Kumar earlier at the Sector 39 police station in July 2019.

One of the cases was registered under the NDPS Act in which 170 gm of ganja was recovered from him.

The police said his mother Bala was a burglar and was involved in 26 criminal cases, of which 11 were registered at the Sector 39 police station.

The police nabbed another drug peddler with 36 banned injections. The suspect, Sham, alias Sunder, a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas village, was arrested from near the Spring Garden in Sector 53.

The police had a tip-off that he was selling banned injections to addicts in the area.

A case has been registered against him at the Sector 36 police station.
