Patiala, December 6
Even as city resident Naveen Kumar highlighted the illegal construction of 108 shops in Gurbaksh Colony of the city three months ago, no action has been taken in this regard.
The complainant has also received alleged threat calls from the councillor of ward No. 24, Anil Moudgil.
The audio clip of the councillor, who allegedly issued life threats to the whistle-blower, has gone viral on the social media.
Naveen had complained in September that the illegal construction of shops, which was earlier stopped following interference by the Municipal Corporation (MC) commissioner, had resumed.
He alleged that when he complained in this regard, he received threat calls from Moudgil.
Refuting the allegations, Moudgil claimed, “The audio clip being circulated is fake. The complainant and his accomplices have joined two different audio clips and passed it off as my voice. I have no relation with the illegal constructions or the threats issued.”
He added that he was ready to face any investigation in the matter.
The audio clip of the phone conversation went viral, following which the complainant reported the matter to the police.
Police officials were not available for comment.
Meanwhile, Municipal Corporation (MC) Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahendru, when questioned regarding the construction of shops, said, “I am unaware of the matter as I was in Chandigarh for a meeting. I will look into it.”
