30-year-old axes wife to death, booked

PATIALA:The local police have booked a 30-year-old man after he allegedly killed his wife with an axe here.

The local police have booked a 30-year-old man after he allegedly killed his wife with an axe here. 

The deceased has been identified as Manpreet Kaur, a resident of Langh village here. The police registered a case against Lakhwinder Singh at the behest of his wife’s brother Harbhajan Singh.

The police said Lakhwinder suspected his wife of having illicit relationships. Rajesh Malhotra, Station House Officer at the Tripuri police station, said, “The woman was allegedly attacked by her husband with an axe. She was hit on her head and shoulder.”

The police said the woman was a mother of five children – four girls and one boy. They said according to neighbours, the woman and her husband were usually involved in fighting over his suspicions.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
