PATIALA:A 50-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding mini truck near Swajpur village on the Bhadson road on Sunday.

A 50-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding mini truck near Swajpur village on the Bhadson road on Sunday. 

The local police have booked the truck driver for causing death due to negligence. The deceased was identified as Balbir Singh Singh, a resident of Swajpur in Patiala.

The police said Balbir Singh sustained serious injuries after a speeding mini truck hit his two-wheeler near Swajpur village on the Bhadson road.

“The victim was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Driver of the truck has been identified as Shingara Singh, a resident of Shutrana,” said Harwinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Passiana police station. 

“We are conducting raids to arrest the truck driver,” the SHO added.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered under Sections 279 (Rash driving), 304-A (Causing death due to negligence) and 427 (Mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the truck driver at the Passiana police station.
