The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR), in collaboration with the UT Education Department, organised a mock Parliament session at Tagore Theatre here today.
Students from the GGMSSS-18, GGMSSS-40, GMSSS-16 and GMSSS-Dhanas participated with zeal. Around 800 students, teachers and guests were part of the programme.
Issues taken up by students were water management, POCSO Bill, child labour, and school safety. Student leaders passed all bills after following a proper procedure. There was a detailed discussion on every bill and questions were raised by the opposition leaders.
Member of Parliament Kirron Kher was the chief guest. She inspired the students to become good and fearless leaders. She also invited them to Parliament session in New Delhi.
Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Service Authority, was the guest of honour. He appreciated the concept of conducting a mock Parliament session.
