Chandigarh: The local AAP leadership has claimed that the party will not join hands with the city Congress for the Lok Sabha elections.



Chandigarh: The local AAP leadership has claimed that the party will not join hands with the city Congress for the Lok Sabha elections. AAP convener Prem Garg said the party would not support the Congress at any cost in Chandigarh. With rumours doing the rounds, Garg convened an urgent meeting in which all officials and volunteers decided that the city AAP would fully support its candidate Harmohan Dhawan. A meeting of former sarpanches, panches and members of the Zila Parishad was held at Dhawan’s house in Sector 9 on Wednesday. Dhawan said AAP would not let any house outside the Lal Dora demolished. He said if the Administration considered constructions outside the Lal Dora illegal, officials responsible for this must be punished. TNS

Fire at school storeroom

Ambala: A fire broke out at the storeroom of Sewa Samiti School in Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday. No injuries or causality were reported in the incident. The school was closed due to a holiday. The smoke was first noticed by security guards around 10:15 am. They raised the alarm and called the fire brigade. Some cultural events’ dresses and other goods kept inside the storeroom were gutted. Short-circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the fire. TNS

NCC cadets get scholarship

Students who are NCC cadets from Senior Secondary Model School, Punjabi University, Patiala, have been felicitated with scholarship by the Cadets’ Welfare Society. Based on merit in academic performance, the society gives scholarships of Rs 6,000 each to cadets across the country. Three cadets who brought laurels to the school are Prabhjot Kaur, Gagandeep Sharma and Khushandeep Kaur. 

Alumni meet

Government Bikram College of Commerce organised its alumni meet titled ‘Bikram Resonance’ under the aegis of Principal Kusum Bansal. The college successfully hosted the event which was attended by more than 500 alumni.

Orientation at Blossoms school 

Blossoms School organised an orientation for the parents of pre-nursery and nursery students on Wednesday. The motive was to familiarise the parents with the teaching-learning methodology implemented in the school. 

YPS, Rai school in cricket final 

On the second day of the All-India IPSC Six-A-Side Cricket Boys (U-17) Tournament, MNSS, Rai, defeated Modern School, New Delhi. In the second semi-final match, host team YPS, Patiala, defeated YPS, Mohali, to play the finals with MNSS, Rai. YPS, Patiala, won the match by 4 runs. The final will be played tomorrow at YPS ground. tns
