Two youths arrested for seriously injuring a police constable were produced in a local court today which remanded them to two-day police custody.

The suspects, who have been identified as Sonu, a resident of Sector 11, and Hari, a resident of Sector 20, had hit Constable Ram Nivas with their Swift car when the latter was performing his duty at a naka on the Sector 11/15 roundabout on Saturday. The car was rammed into the constable’s right leg. The cop received multiple fractures on the leg and foot. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Inspector Karamjit of the Crime Branch said they had sought two-day police remand of the accused as they wanted to know why the duo tried to escape on seeing the naka.
