CHANDIGARH:The UT Administration has banned the sale of crackers in the markets and has identified nine places where these can be sold.

Chandigarh, October 22

The UT Administration has banned  the sale of crackers in the markets and has identified nine places where these can be sold.

The Administration has identified the sites at the Sabzi Mandi ground, Sector 43, the new Ramlila ground, Sector  46,   the open space  in Sector  33-C adjoining Sector  32-D, at Sector  37-C  adjoining the temple,   the Dasehra ground, Sector  24,  the Sabzi Mandi ground, Sector 29,  open ground at the Ram Darbar  car  bazaar, open ground  at Mani Majra and  at the Masjid ground, Sector  20. The permission for sale  will  be allowed for three  days (November 5  to November 7). 

The Administration will issue only 96  licences for the sale of crackers at the designated places.

The number of licences  has been kept at last  year’s figure  in 

view of the directions of the  Punjab and Haryana  High Court. The allotment of the sites will be  decided  through the  draw of lots, to be held on October 29.

The Deputy Commissioner’s office has started the sale of forms  for the allotment of the sites.
