African held with cocaine hard nut to crack: Police

The African arrested by the Chandigarh Police with cocaine has turned out to be a hard nut to crack. He has not revealed his true identity.

The accused was arrested on October 9 near the Sector 39/40/55/56 roundabout with 11.08 grams of cocaine.

Police officials said the accused identified himself as Uri Bri, but they believe it was a fake name. “The accused could not produce any document with which his identity could be established,” said a police official.

The police also doubt the age of the accused, who claims himself to be 19 years old. The police have written to its foreigners’ registration office (FRO) to establish the identity and antecedents of the accused.

The accused was produced in court today, which sent him to judicial custody.
