Ambala, April 16
Officials at the Ambala Cantonment railway station today received a threat letter purportedly from Jaish-e-Mohammad area commander Masoor Ahmad to blow up railway stations and religious places in Haryana, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.
The letter was sent to the office of the Ambala Cantonment station superintendent through post today.
The letter read, “To avenge the killings of jehadis, I will blow up several railway stations, including Ambala Cantonment, Panipat, Karnal, Sonepat, Kurukshetra and Delhi. The Indian forces have killed 300 jehadis, we will kill 1,000. Only then I will get peace.”
“Religious places in Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantonment bus stand and military camps will be blown up on May 16. Other religious places in Haryana and railway stations of Shimla and Una are also on my target,” it further read.
After seeing the letter, Station Director BS Gill reported the matter to the Government Railway Police.
Soon after, senior GRP and RPF officials reached the Ambala Cantonment railway station.
GRP DSP Madan Lal said, “A letter was received today threatening to blow up several railway stations and religious places in Haryana, Delhi and Himachal. A case has been registered and the matter is being investigated.”
GRP SHO Ram Bachan said, “An alert has been sounded and inspection is being carried out at the railway station. A case has been registered under Sections 124-A, 153-A, 295-A and 505 (1) (b) of the IPC.”
On April 1, threat calls were received to blow up railway stations. A Bihar resident was arrested in this case.
A threat letter was received on September 25 last year as well purportedly from LeT area commander Molvi Abbu Bukhari to blow up railway stations and religious places in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
On October 12, 2011, around 5kg RDX was recovered from a car parked in the parking lot at the station.
