While police officials of Punjab and Chandigarh were at loggerheads almost all day, claiming credit for the arrest of gangster Dilpreet Singh, a husband and wife, both of the DSP rank but belonging to the Punjab and UT cadre, respectively, were all smiles about the outcome of the operation. Both, apparently, were quietly involved in the operation without sharing information with each other.

These were DSP Tejinder Singh of the Punjab Police, who is posted with the intelligence wing, and his wife DSP Harjit Kaur, who heads the south division,  in which the encounter took place.

“It is a unique day for us,” said Tejinder Singh. “I was part of the leading team, chasing the gangster, while my wife was heading the area and doing the job assigned to her. The FIR about the arrest and sequence of events was lodged by me at the Sector 36 police station, which is under her jurisdiction.”

Tejinder Singh didn’t divulge much details about the operational aspect of the incident or whether he and his wife talked about the information before end. “These are professional matters and not discussed with anyone.”
