Apprehended gangster took to crime early

ROPAR: Notorious gangster Harjinder Singh (21), alias Akash, who was nabbed after an encounter with the Ropar police on Saturday morning was introduced to crime at the age of 17 by Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, another dreaded gangster of Dilpreet Singh gang.

Notorious gangster Harjinder Singh (21), alias Akash, who was nabbed after an encounter with the Ropar police on Saturday morning was introduced to crime at the age of 17 by Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, another dreaded gangster of Dilpreet Singh gang. Akash had come into contact with Rinda when the latter was staying in Nanded.

According to police sources, Akash, who belonged to a modest family, stepped into the world of crime by allegedly committing a murder in Maharashtra, following which the police of the state announced a prize of Rs 5 lakh for providing information about him. Besides five murder cases, he was wanted by the police of Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra for 13 other crimes, including attempt to murder, robbery and dacoity.

Besides murder in Maharashtra, Akash was allegedly involved in three killings in Punjab and Chandigarh during the last two years.
