Patiala, December 7

The office of District Defence Services Welfare observed the Armed Forces Flag Day here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kumar Amit presided over the function. He inaugurated a Sainik Memorial Hall dedicated to martyrs from the district on the occasion. He also released the annual brochure ‘Rann Jodhey’ and formally started collection of Flag-Day fund. 

Officials distributed financial assistance among needy ex-servicemen and their widows during the function.

“People should contribute for the Flag-Day fund as it is a befitting opportunity to express our solidarity with our armed forces and recognise their sacrifices,” said the DC.

Officials explained the historical background of the Flag-Day function and various welfare schemes undertaken out of the fund collected.
