Four masked men on Thursday night robbed Rs 15,000 at gunpoint from a petrol filling station near Nanakpur village in Pinjore on the Pinjore-Nalagarh highway here. The incident took place at around 1.10 am.
The petrol pump — Nanakpur filling station — belongs to Rajesh Jain, brother of Pawan Jain, former media coordinator of the Haryana State Congress Committee.
There were three workers – Manoj, Hemraj and Balbir, when the incident occurred. According to the police, the four masked men riding on two motorcycles came at the petrol pump and asked the workers to re-fuel their bikes. The workers who were sitting inside the office suspected that something was wrong and refused to re-fuel their bikes saying that there was no fuel at the pump.
However, three of the robbers walked towards the office cabin and asked the staff to open the door. The police said when the staff refused to open it, one of the accused fired two gunshots on the glass of the office door and entered inside by breaking it.
The workers told the police that the accused were in their mid-20s. The robbers pointed pistols at them and took away Rs 15,000, besides their mobile phones.
Following the incident, the workers came out, but were threatened for being shot by the accused.
Inspector Sukhbir Singh, Pinjore Station House Officer (SHO), with a police team, Assistant Commissioner of Police Adarshdeep Singh and teams of the Crime Branch reached the spot. They recovered one bullet shell from the spot. The SHO said the investigation had been initiated and a case under the Arms Act and that of robbery was registered.
