PATIALA: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh (45) deputed at the CID police station in the city was killed after he accidentally shot himself from his service revolver.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh (45) deputed at the CID police station in the city was killed after he accidentally shot himself from his service revolver.

The police officials at Anaj Mandi police station said they received a call from the Rajindra Hospital on Saturday night and were informed about the incident by the deceased’s family.

According to the deceased’s family, Balwinder was cleaning his service revolver when the revolver went off and bullet pierced his head.

The cops said the body was handed over to the deceased’s family after conducting the post-mortem. 

The police have initiated a probe and registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC.
