Chandigarh, December 5
A day after four unidentified miscreants opened fire on the owner of GH Ornaments, at the NAC, Mani Majra, the UT police have failed to make any headway in the case.
The miscreants had arrived in a Brezza, bearing a Delhi registration number. They quarrelled with the jewellery showroom owner and then opened fire on him.
Hanumant Bhosle was standing outside the showroom on the first floor when the miscreants arrived. The victim panicked and tried to run after which one of the miscreants opened fire on him. The victim escaped and locked himself inside his cabin. The police said an employee of the victim, who was standing downstairs, rushed to rescue him. However, the miscreants threatened him.
The police said they had collected the CCTV footage of the area to identify the registration number of the car in which the suspects had arrived. Though the jewellery store owner has denied having any enmity with anyone, the police said they were probing all angles, including personal enmity.
The police said since one of them was carrying a bag on his back, the robbery motive could not be ruled out. — TNS
