The Punjab Governor and UT Administrator, VP Singh Badnore, expressed his heartfelt condolences over the demise of former Prime Minister and veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In his condolence message, Badnore termed Vajpayee as a legend of the Indian polity, who belonged to the league of greatest Indians. “In the death of Vajpayee the nation has lost a seasoned politician, a true statesman and above all a good human being. With his political acumen and literary bent of mind, he had touched many hearts all over the world,” said Badnore.

“His long political career was devoted for the people of India. The stalwart of Indian politics will always be remembered for his contribution to the social and political fields,” he added.

The Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said, “With the passing away of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India has lost a legendary leader and statesman.

Vajpayee was endowed with a charismatic personality, was democrat to the core and believed in bipartisan politics of consensus, he added.

“I learnt a lot by observing him in Parliament. The days with him at the UN and a CPA conference shall ever remain etched in my memory,” said Bansal.

The end of an era

While paying tributes to Vajpayee, ex-BJP MP, Additional Solicitor General of India and member of the Law Commission of India, Satya Pal Jain, said, “With the demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an era in Indian politics has come to an end.” Vajpayee was among very few tallest leaders of the century and the country, he added.
