After a scuffle broke out between the post intern doctors of the Government Medical College (GMC) and outsiders on Friday night, the Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers Association has demanded that the district administration should beef up security on the college campus, especially, during the night hours.
On Friday night, some outsiders attacked the post-internship medicos with bricks and damaged their cars after an altercation. In fact, the miscreants also thrashed the college security guard. General secretary of the state body of the association, Dr DS Bhullar said, “The district police must intensify night patrolling outside the medical college and Rajindra Hospital in the light of yesterday’s post-midnight incidence of hooliganism inside and at the entry gate of the college campus.”
As per the police, outsiders had assembled in the medical college ground to celebrate birthday of one of their friends when the incident took place.
Meanwhile, superintendent of the Medical College boys’ hostel, DS Bhullar, discussed the matter on internal security with the GMC Principal, Dr Harjinder Singh
