Geeta Dewan, Head of the Mathematics Department at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, received the Global Educator Award from Amity University, Singapore. She has been bestowed upon the award for her contribution in the field of education. Vice-Chancellor Gurvinder Singh and CEO Leon Choog (ASEAN) were present during the ceremony.

Shemrock School, Mohali

The school celebrated its annual sports day at sports stadium, Sector 46, Chandigarh. Principal Prineet Sobhal took the salute of the parade and declared the meet open. Students displayed their sports skills in events such as 100 metres race, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, long jump and shot put etc. Ganesh Vandana, zumba and bhangra were the highlights of the second day. 

Mount Carmel, Mohali

Mount Carmel School, Mohali, organised its seventh annual function at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. Sibin C, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Punjab, was the chief guest. The show was an amalgam of graceful and synchronous dance performances, music, songs and drama. The performances were followed by a prize distribution ceremony.

Blossom Convent, Nayagaon

Blossom Convent School organised its annual function ‘Unmukt Parinde’ at Forest Hill Resort. Principal Geeta Sandhu and Vice-Principal Mukesh Chaudhary distributed awards among the students. Children performed dance under the themes of Punjabi, Haryanvi, women empowerment, etc. 

VB International, Zirakpur

Students participated in a workshop on motor skills organised at VB International Senior Secondary School, Zirakpur. The objective was to indulge students in different activities, thereby making learning fun.

Century Public, Nayagaon

Officials from the Nayagaon police station organised an awareness programme for the students of Century Public School, Nayagaon. The aim was to make the students familiar with the traffic rules, cyber crime and ill-effects of drugs. Additional SHO Sudhir Malik, Incharge Traffic Education Cell ASI Janak Raj, Incharge Saanjh Kendra Nayagaon ASI Balwinder Singh and others participated in the awareness programme. Principal Rajesh Bansal was also present on the occasion.

Doon Public, Panchkula

The Saraswati Kala Sangam, a cultural organisation run by veteran Army officers since 1997, organised their annual inter-school group song and dance contest at Satluj Public School here. More than 10 teams from different schools contested for the 17th Pundir Annual Running Trophy-2019. The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Sangam president Col IJ Ahluwalia presented Ganesh Vandana, while members Satinder Trikha, Achla Dingle and Shilpa Mishra doled out songs and ghazals. Doon Public School was declared the overall winner and lifted the trophy.
