Bicycle facility at Chhat Bir zoo

ZIRAKPUR: Additional Chief Secretary (Forests) Dr Roshan Sunkaria visited Chhat Bir zoo on May 17 and chaired a meeting with wildlife officers of the Punjab Forest Department.

Additional Chief Secretary (Forests) Dr Roshan Sunkaria visited Chhat Bir zoo on May 17 and chaired a meeting with wildlife officers of the Punjab Forest Department. He also reviewed the progress of the Wildlife Department and the decisions taken during the recent State Board for Wildlife (SBWL) meeting.

In the meeting, PCCF (Wildlife) Dr Kuldip Kumar briefed about the progress made by wildlife officers in the last financial year. Dr M Sudhagar, Field Director of the zoo, explained about the recent developments in the zoo such as new thematic entry plaza, shallow lake canteen, toilet, flightless birds walk-in aviary and an enriched and integrated wildlife safari which are to be opened for public.

Dr Sunkaria suggested the zoo administration to take steps to increase visitor satisfaction level such as zoo guides, audio guides, students zoo clubs, eco-friendly initiatives, etc. 

The department initiated an eco-friendly travel service for the visitors by introducing bicycles facility in the zoo. Dr Sunkaria directed the zoo administration to start the pilot project free for the public. The aim is to promote the message of saving the environment. — OC
