Ambala, February 21
The police have arrested a native of Bihar for duping a local resident of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of providing an agency of Patanjali, a retail chain.
The accused, identified as Anoop Kumar, was produced in a court, which sent him to police remand for eight days.
In his complaint to the police on February 5 last year, Anoop Aggarwal, a resident of Ambala City, had alleged that he was duped on January 29 by some people on the pretext of providing an agency of Patanjali.
The matter was forwarded to the Economic Offences Cell of the police for investigation.
Aggarwal claimed he had taken a bank loan for the purpose of getting the agency. After he faced difficulties in repaying the loan, the bank had also issued a notice to attach his property.
The police suspect the role of a bank employee in the fraud. A case was registered under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC at the Baldev Nagar police station.
