The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has introduced an automated process for immediate online payments to beneficiaries that will reduce the involvement of manpower and paper-work, besides enabling government accounts to be settled with the Reserve Bank of India on day-to-day basis with end-to-end reconciliation of funds.

The platform — Cash Management Product (CMP) — was launched by Mohan Lal, Additional Director General, Border Roads (North-West), here on Wednesday. Sanjiv Mittal, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Border Roads); Rakesh Sehgal, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Western Command); along with senior officers from the BRO and the Defence Accounts Department were also present.

The platform will be adopted throughout the BRO in a phased manner, and with this initial launching, approximately 30,000 people will be benefitted. Mohan Lal said with the CMP, the higher management would be in a position to know the real time expenditure of their respective formations. It will do away with the existing practice of placing cash assignments on treasury branches across India for running field units of BRO. A tree plantation drive was also organised on the occasion.
