CBSE Class X examinations begin today

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams for Class X is all set to commence from tomorrow. The first exam will be for e-Publishing and e-Office. Examination for the main subjects will commence from March 7 with mathematics.

The CBSE has introduced a series of changes for conducting the examinations this year. The board has toughened rules for students appearing for the examinations.

No entry after 10 am

It is important to note that the doors of the exam hall will be opened at 09.45 am, which is 45 minutes before the commencement of the exam every day. All candidates are advised to be in their seats by 10 am, which is 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination.

The board has clearly instructed that after the commencement of the examination, no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre after 10 am whatsoever may be the reason. Candidates will be subjected to extensive and compulsory physical checking before entering the exam centre.

Extra marks for creativity

Candidates are required to bring their own pen, pencil and ink. Only blue-black or royal blue ink/ballpoint pen is to be used. There will be 33% extra internal choices and consideration will be given for creative answers while giving marks.

Unfair means cases to be dealt with police action

All cases of unfair means will also be reported to the local police for taking appropriate action according to the law. The complaint/report will be sent to the local police in a prescribed format by the authorities concerned.

Here’s what you need to remember

Unfair means 

Having in possession any prohibited item or article in examination centre or may be used for unfair practices, including any stationery item, communication device, accessories, eatable items, ornaments or any other material or information relevant or not relevant to the examination in the paper concerned.

• Use or attempted use of an electronic device after entering the examination centre.
• Uploading/sharing any examination related material, correct or wrong, on social media.
• Providing wrong information on the answer sheet.
• Having in possession question papers of previous years.
• Taking a legal course or any other means to influence the CBSE by providing false information.
• Tearing any page of the answer book or supplementary answer book etc.
• Contacting or communicating or trying to do so with any person, other than the examination staff, during the examination time at the examination centre.
• Communicating with another candidate or the Assistant Superintendent directly or indirectly.
• Using or attempting to use any other undesirable method or means in connection with the examination.
• Forceful entry/exit in/from examination centre/hall.

What CBSE advises on the day of exams?

• Have a light but adequate breakfast.
• Write legibly. Answer to the point and avoid writing unnecessary information to make the answer appear long.
• Do not copy or consult other students.
• Start with what you know best. If not sure, do not spend long time in recalling answers.
• Handle the less known questions later.
• If there are any doubts, clarify with the invigilator.
• Ensure that you are well seated before 10 am as late entry will not be allowed.
• Avoid revision just before entering the exam hall.

Dress code

• For regular candidates - School uniform.
• For private candidates - Light clothes.
