Mohali, August 13
Charges have been framed against GMADA’s former chief engineer Surinderpal Singh, alias Pehalwan, in a cas eof corruption at a local court on Monday.
During the SAD government regime, Pehalwan was considered to be the blue eyed boy of former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and several projects of GMADA were handled by either Pehalwan’s own companies or by the companies in which he was a stakeholder.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had booked him in November 2017 under the charges of corruption. The Vigilance sleuths claimed that the expenditure of family of Pehalwan was nearly Rs29.50 crore on movable and immovable properties in a span of two years, whereas their income was around Rs 5.25 crore then. — TNS
