Chhatbir Zoo worker hit by car, dies

A Chhatbir Zoo worker was killed after he was allegedly hit by a rashly driven car near D-Mart here last evening. The deceased has been identified as Jasveer Singh, a resident of Zirakpur. According to the police, the incident occurred around 6 pm when the victim was heading towards the Zirakpur side on his bike after completing his duty.

When Jasveer reached near Shatabgarh village, a car, bearing a Punjab registration number, in a bid to overtake another vehicle, hit his bike. The victim sustained injuries. He was taken to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where doctors referred him to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh. He succumbed to his injuries later.

The police have registered a case against the car driver, Rishi Kapoor, a resident of Chamkaur Sahib in Ropar district, at the Zirakpur police station. He is yet to arrested.
