S Chikkarangappa and SSP Chawrasia were chasing Thailand’s Danthai Boonma, who went on a birdie spree to blaze through the second round with a card of 10-under 61 in the TAKE Solutions Masters in Bengaluru on Friday.
At 15-under, 22-year-old Danthai is five shots ahead of second placed Argentine Miguel Carballo (66-66) and Maverick Antcliff (67-65).
They are being chased by India’s Chikkarangappa (69-64) in fourth place and Chawrasia (69-65) in fifth place at the KGA golf course.
“I forgot my Buddhist pendant necklace this morning. It’s like my lucky charm so I went back to the hotel to take it just 20 minutes before my tee time this morning. Thankfully, the hotel is just next to the course,” Danthai said after the day’s play.
“I’ve been singing this Thai song in my head and I want to continue that tomorrow,” he added.
Apart from Chikka and Chawrasia, there were three more Indians in the top-10. The 20-year-old Viraj Madappa is tied-sixth, while local lad Khalin Joshi and Delhi’s Honey Baisoya are tied-9th.

Chandigarh’s Feroz Singh Garewal, who shot a creditable 5-under 66 yesterday to share the second spot, fell 38 places to tied-40th position after scoring a disappointing 3-over on Friday.
Asian Games-bound amateur Aadil Bedi, who was tied-14th last evening, slipped to tied-31 position after a par 71 in the second round.
Another Chandigarh golfer, Karandeep Kochhar, however, produced a second successive card of 69 to finish in tied-25th place.
