Chandigarh, April 18 

Chandigarh will host the 18th Asian Billiards, 20th U-21 Asian Snooker and the 3rd Ladies Asian Snooker Championships from April 27. The week-long tournament, organised by the Punjab Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) under the aegis of the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) and Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI), will be held at the Sector 19 Community Centre here.

Cueists from 15 Asian countries will participate in the event, PBSA said here on Thursday. The Indian challenge will be spearheaded by current World Billiards champion Pankaj Advani and Asian Ladies snooker champion Amee Kamani. 

International medal winners like Dhruv Sitwala, Vidya Pillai and national billiards champion Shrikrishna will also be in the fray, the sports body added.

For the Asian U-21 Snooker and Ladies Snooker Championships, the matches will be of the best of seven frames initially, with the final being of the best of 11 frames, said PBSA general secretary and former India international Alok Kumar. The billiards matches will be played under 100 up format with matches being of the best of seven frames of 100 points each and final being the best of 11 frames. 

Joseph Law of Hong Kong will be the tournament director, Kumar informed.
