CHANDIGARH:A fine performance by city bowlers helped the side to register an innings and 603-run win over Mizoram in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy, at Kolkata, today.

A fine performance by city bowlers helped the side to register an innings and 603-run win over Mizoram in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy, at Kolkata, today. 

This is perhaps the biggest win ever scored by any team in the Cooch Behar Trophy. After taking a mammoth 642-run first innings lead, the city lads forced Mizoram to follow-on. Sehbaaz Singh guided Chandigarh to victory as he claimed 4/9, while Rajangad Bawa, Amit Shukla and Yuvrak Choudhary also shared wickets to confirm a massive win and easily claim seven points. 

After packing Mizoram for 58 runs in the first innings, the city lads restricted them again ona  low total of 39 runs in 23.2 overs. Sehbaaz accounted for— Sahil Sharma (7), C Thafam Kima (2), Sahil Reza (0) and Priyansh Jain (0), while Bawa claimed Nunfela (1) and Zualtea (4). Shukla claimed opener Tluanga (0) and Gilbert (1). 

Sarthak Sharan claimed Thankhuma (0), while K Vanrotlinga (1) was run out by Narayan Yadav. 

Aurka Das (11) was the only main scorer for Mizoram and left unbeaten on the team’s total of 39 runs. Chandigarh will host now Bihar in their third match from December 6 onwards.
