CHANDIGARH:In a nail-biting finish, DAV Senor Secondary School, Sector 8, logged a three-wicket win against Sector 16 Cricket Academy in the final of the 1st GS Banga Memorial Cricket Championship, here on Sunday.

Chandigarh, February 17

In a nail-biting finish, DAV Senor Secondary School, Sector 8, logged a three-wicket win against Sector 16 Cricket Academy in the final of the 1st GS Banga Memorial Cricket Championship, here on Sunday. 

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Sector 16 outfit posted 151 runs before getting all-out in allotted 30 overs. Vaibhav Kalta (42 off 48 balls, with four boundaries) and Surya Narayan Yadav (29 off 55 balls, with one boundary) were the top run scorers for the side. 

Rohan Gambri (26 off 22 balls, with two sixes) and Janam Ober (11) were the other two main scorers. Aryan Verma was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3/24, while Jaskirat took 2/22. 

Ranjot Singh (1/21), Rawat Singh (1/28) and Arshnoor Pannu (1/12) also claimed a wicket each. In reply, DAV boys scored the winning runs on the last ball. Their innings was bolstered by a 58-run contribution by Gurneet Singh. He was ably supported by Yuvraj rai (35), Nehal Pajni (25) and Aryan Verma (12). Rohan (2/21) remained the leading wicket taker for the side, while Samardeep Singh (1/21) and Arbab (1/36) were the other wicket takers.  The winners were awarded trophies.
