Day after FIR, man nabbed for impregnating fianceé

A day after registering a case, the Dera Bassi police arrested a Ludhiana man for impregnating his 16-year-old fianceé.

Parmod, alias Sajan, a native of Bihar, was nabbed by the police from Zirakpur. He will be produced in a court tomorrow.

Moreover, as the victim failed to provide any proof of her age, the police took her to the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital for a bone ossification test. However, the test could not be conducted due to pregnancy. The police added that the ossification test would be conducted after delivery.

According to the police, the incident came to light on Monday after the girl, who resides in the slum area at the back of Gupta Colony in Dera Bassi, was taken to a hospital by her mother, a domestic help, after she complained of stomachache. After medical examination, she was found six-month pregnant.
