A 22-year-old delivery boy was found murdered outside a park in Sector 15-C near Hotel Parkview this morning. The youth has been identified as Sanjay Yadav, a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas. The body was found in a pool of blood with pellet-like injury marks.
The police recovered his ID card issued by a Mohali-based firm. Sanjay is survived by his father Tarloki Ram, mother, sister and brother.
A PCR team found the boy lying near the park and took him to the GMSH-16 at 9:25 am. The doctor declared him dead on arrival.
“The body was found in a pool of blood with blood coming out of the mouth, nose and chest. Multiple injuries were found on the neck, chest and back. It seems that unknown persons murdered him,” reads the statement by a constable.
The police collected samples from the crime scene. The SDPO Central, Krishan Kumar, said: “The deceased was last seen by his relatives and friends at 12:30 am nearby his residence. His motorcycle is missing. His mobile phone was switched off when the body was recovered. It is learnt that the deceased also watched Ramlila till 10 pm and then headed back to Dhanas.”
Sources in the police say the younger brother of the deceased was involved in a quarrel a few days ago.
Dr Satbir Singh, Medical Superintendent of GMSH-16, said: “The body reached the hospital at 9:25 am and the boy was declared dead on arrival. A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow.”
