Chandigarh, July 11

Not giving household waste to door-to-door collectors will invite a penalty.

Sources said the MC had prepared draft of Solid Waste Management Rules-2018, which would be tabled during the next General House meeting for approval.

Under the rules, it will become mandatory for residents to give household waste to door-to-door collectors. The provision of penalty has been proposed for those who refuse to give waste to garbage collectors. There is also a provision of penalising waste collectors in case they fail to perform their duties.

It is for the first time that such fine was being imposed.
