Chandigarh, April 20 

Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai drubbed Sri Lanka Air Force 5-1 in the ongoing 2nd Marshal Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Championship here on Saturday. 

ICF took the lead through Deepak in the sixth minute. But Sri Lanka Air Force got their act together and held their opponents till Sanjay breached their defence in the 38th minute. Seven minutes later Mohit made it 3-0 for ICF, while Ashwin struck in the 48th minute to add to Sri Lanka Air Force’s woes.  

The visitors managed to pull one back in the 49th minute through Chamra Malder, but Dhanush added one more goal to the ICF tally in the 54th minute to ensure an easy win for his side.

In another match, hosts Indian Air Force (IAF) registered a 2-0 win against Sector 42 Sports Complex. Damanjit Singh (20th) and Sukhdev (35th) scored a goal each for the hosts.

Indian Navy, meanwhile, came from behind to beat Punjab & Sind Bank 4-2. 

The bankers scored the opening goal in the 12th minute through a penalty corner conversion by Parvinder and maintained the lead till the half-time.  

After the break, AA Rahim restored the parity for Indian Navy in the 40th minute. The bankers regained the lead four minutes later — Price hitting home on a penalty corner. But Rahim (47th) once again rescued Indian Navy. 

Vinay Rana (50th) and Jugraj Singh (56th) then struck in quick succession to help Navy seal the match 4-2.

In the last match of the day, Vivek Academy registered a 6-2 win against Sports College, Lucknow. — TNS
