Chandigarh, October 20

In an innovative way to bridge the gap between the public and the police, a programme titled, “Milan Samaroh”, was organised by the Chandigarh Police at the IT Park here on Sunday. The cops took the elderly residents down the memory lane by showcasing their pictures from the younger days at the event.

The event, an initiative of Inspector Lakhbir Singh, SHO of the IT Park police station, emphasised on cementing the bond between police personnel and local residents.

Singh said he and his team started visiting the houses of elderly people to meet them and collect their photographs from their younger days, including their wedding pictures.

“We invited all of them for lunch and kept it a surprise as to why we collected their pictures,” he said.

The senior citizens, who reached the function with their families, were left elated when they saw their pictures there. They were also treated with a lunch by the police.

Police officials said the event also helped them in updating their list of senior citizens in the area falling under the area of the IT Park police station.
