A newly recarpeted Passi road has drawn ire of the residents as the authorities concerned carried on the work without removing electricity poles.

Rajbir, a resident said, “The Public Works Department has started recarpeting and widening of the road without removing electricity poles. The poles should have been removed first. Now, when the poles will be removed, potholes will emerge on the road.”

Another resident who expressed his resentment on social media said, “The road is being constructed during elections by hook or by crook.”

An XEN in the Public Works Department said, “The work at the site is still going on. We are yet to add a layer to the road. The poles will be removed before the final layer.”
