Fencers Nikhil, Sandeep triumph

Chandigarh, October 11

Nikhil of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 10, dominated the field in the foil event at the U-17 inter-school fencing championship on Thursday. 

Dinesh of GMSSS, Sector 16, finished second, while Prem of GMSSS, Sector 10, and Kaushal of GMSSS, Sector 32, shared the third position. 

Sandeep Thapa of GMSSS, Sector 10, won the gold medal in the epee event. Nitish of DAV Public School, Sector 8, claimed the silver, while Itish of Chitkara International School, Sector 25, and Divesh of GMSSS, Sector 16, got the bronze medals. 

Thapa also won the title in the sabre competition.

SGGS shuttlers win title

Sri Guru Gobind Singh  (SGGS) School, Sector 35, claimed the gold medal in the inter-school badminton championship for U-17 boys. 

In the final, the side blanked Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School 2-0. — TNS
