Concerned over a number of failed attempts to e-auction commercial as well as school sites in the town this year, the cash-strapped Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has decided to identify and remove the shortcomings leading to the flop shows.

Confirming the same while speaking to Chandigarh Tribune, Ashutosh Rajan, Estate Officer, HSVP, said they were waiting for the response to the e-auctioning of 50 commercial sites to be held on December 6. He said this time, they were hopeful that the investors would come forward to participate in the auction.

Rajan said if there was no response, then they would have to review the process to make it more effective. He said they would also hold meeting with investors to know their problems and try to remove the same so that the HSVP could auction most commercial plots in the town, which were worth several hundred crores.

He said in the tomorrow’s e-auction, 12 5-storey SCOs and 12 three-storey SCOs in Sector 5 and the Mansa Devi Complex (MDC), Sector 5, respectively, 22 booths and four double-storey shops in the MDC, Sector 6, would be put on offer. He said each and every detail about the sites had been uploaded on the HSVP website for the information of the prospective bidders.

Rajan said he had directed officials to prepare a list of plots, which had been illegally encroached upon in various commercial areas of the town. He said they would try to get these vacated and e-auction them.

Hemant Kinger, an investor, said the clause of full payment within six months was keeping investors away from the auction. He claimed that the rates of properties, which had seen a slump during the past few years, would boomerang and touch new heights.

Meanwhile, the Estate Officer said he had also directed the officials not to entertain unauthorised persons. He said no middlemen would be allowed on the HSVP premises. He directed the officials to clear the files within no time so that people do not face any problem and resultantly, need not approach a middleman. He said if anyone was found dealing with any middleman, he or she would have to face strict action.

Rajan said he had also directed his staff to clear the confusion over the areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation and the HSVP so that development works could be undertaken immediately.
